Our History

Established in 1995, SIS Canada’s innovative learning is leading the way for Sokcho English Academy with a technology-enriched, innovative, and research-backed approach to education.

SIS Canada Inc. was created in response to the problem that public and private English education models are outdated and that children are not learning relevant life skills or developing the confidence that will enable them to excel in and out of the classroom.

SIS Canada Inc. became the BC Offshore School for grades KG to 12 in Sokcho, Korea, approved by the BC Provincial Ministry of Education in 2013.

In September 2017, the secondary program was relocated to BC, Canada, where it was run as an independent school and achieved Group 4 status until June 2019.

The Sokcho campus followed the North American curriculum for G1 to G6 students and obtained full accreditation from AI and NCPSA in 2018.

In March 2020, SIS Canada Inc. moved to a new building and currently focuses on providing more individualized intensive care and instruction for students in grades 1 through 6, as well as a kinder program for ages 5 to 7.

In November 2023, SIS Canada Inc. obtained formal accreditation from MSA-CESS, one of the four major educational institutions accreditation associations in the United States.

Additionally, in December 2023, SIS Canada Inc. received accreditation for its kinder program from AI and NCPAS in the United States.
