HCIS Sokcho Spelling Bee
Spelling Bee is a competition that started in the United States in 1925 to help students learn correct spelling, develop a rich vocabulary, and further use English accurately. HCIS Sokcho also holds a spelling bee contest every year to improve the spelling skills and vocabulary of elementary school students and to strengthen students' confidence, sense of balance, and development of communication skills even under the pressure of competitions.
스펠링비는 학생들의 정확한 철자법, 풍부한 어휘력 그리고 더 나아가 정확한 영어사용을 돕겠다는 목적으로 1925년 미국에서 시작된 대회입니다. HCIS Sokcho에서도 초등학생들의 스펠링 능력과 어휘력을 향상시키고 대회라는 압박감 속에서도 학생들의 자신감, 균형감각과 의사소통 능력 개발을 강화하기 위하여 매년 스펠링비대회를 개최하고 있습니다.
HCIS Sokcho Market Day
Market Day is a fundraising project that aims to educate HCIS Sokcho students about social studies economics. During this project, students learn about the different wants and needs of people and how to live within limited resources. They also get to participate in various economic activities such as trading, producing goods, selling, and buying products from others. This hands-on experience allows them to understand the different roles in the economy.
The funds raised during Market Day are donated to non-profit organizations to help educate children in countries affected by natural disasters or war. We believe that through this project, HCIS Sokcho students will gain practical knowledge and understanding of what other countries are going through. They will also participate in making the world a better place by standing with those in need.

HCIS Sokcho Carnival
Each year, the elementary students collaborate with their teachers to organize sports and recreation programs, as well as participate in the HCIS Sokcho Community Festival with their kindergarten classmates. This initiative helps the elementary school children at HCIS Sokcho to enhance and develop their leadership skills by hosting events in English. By planning and hosting events in English, the elementary school children at HCIS Sokcho gain self-confidence, improve their leadership abilities, and connect the education they have received with real-life situations.
매년 초등학생들은 교사들과 협력하여 스포츠 및 레크리에이션 프로그램을 조직하고 유치부 동생들과 함께 SIS 캐나다 커뮤니티 페스티벌에 참여합니다. 이 활동은 HCIS Sokcho 초등학생들이 영어로 이벤트를 주최하여 리더십 기술을 강화하고 개발하도록 돕습니다. HCIS Sokcho 초등학생들은 영어로 행사를 기획하고 진행함으로써 자신감을 얻고, 리더십 능력을 향상시키며, 그들이 받은 교육을 실제 상황과 연결합니다.
HCIS Sokcho Science Fair
The HCIS Sokcho Science Fair is held every year to encourage elementary school students to develop an interest in science and develop scientific thinking skills through various scientific exploration experiences. Through the science fair, students are presented with tasks for each grade appropriate to their level, have the opportunity to create scientific research products that are difficult to come across, display and operate the results of their research and exploration to the entire HCIS Sokcho community, and display their achievements. You will feel satisfaction and pride, and your presentation and expression skills will improve. In particular, enthusiastic lower-grade elementary school students create models such as air rockets and microscopes, and perform experiments using chemical reactions, making the atmosphere of the event even more exciting.

Monthly Field Trip
Once a month, children from HCIS Sokcho participate in field experience activities in an area near Sokcho. Through visits to museums, libraries, fire stations, botanical gardens, art galleries, and other locations, the children can engage in a variety of activities such as observing, touching, and experiencing things firsthand. These experiences help to spark the children's interest in learning and provide them with a unique and engaging way to explore the world around them.

HCIS Sokcho Spirit Day
HCIS Sokcho organizes a Spirit Day every quarter to encourage a sense of togetherness and friendship among students. This day offers a variety of enjoyable activities, including Pajama Day, Mismatch Day, Crazy Hair Day, and Crazy Hat Day. These events provide an opportunity for all children to connect and make memories, irrespective of their differences. For instance, Crazy Hair Day and Crazy Hat Day allow children to wear their hair and hats in unusual ways, and provide a chance to have fun and empathize with each other, even without special costumes.

HCIS Sokcho Sports Club
Children must take part in sports because it is essential for their fitness, health, and positive overall development. When children participate in sporting activities, it has a positive impact on their overall growth. Moreover, playing team sports has many added benefits such as the following;
- Playing team sports enables children to learn about teamwork. When they play in a team, they learn to work with others to achieve a particular goal. This will have a positive impact on their overall growth and is beneficial when they start working in a team and not just as individual professionals.
- Team sports also help them to build stronger relationships. When children play sports, they learn how to conduct themselves in social situations. Along with that, they also learn how to bond with people and build relationships.
- It teaches them respect. When children play team sports, they learn to respect other people, the rules, authority as well as their opponents. They learn to respect the rules and understand the consequences of not following the rules.
- Finally, it also helps them learn about leadership skills. When children play team sports, they learn to be accountable and responsible for their actions. They understand that they are accountable for their actions and this instills in them leadership skills.
